Andrew had a good day today. They took him this morning to the surgical unit for testing with the GI. My parents waited with him in the waiting room (him in his bed) for an hour and a half. The doctors looked at his stomach and intestinal region with a scope. They didn’t find anything and said everything looked normal. Good news!

Because of Andrew’s GI appointment he missed lunch in his room, so Jen and I brought the family BK and Subway for a picnic in the courtyard. Andrew ate a whopper (cut in cubes with the buns – like miniature sliders), french fries, and a chocolate shake. He did get sick at the beginning of his eating, but stopped and waited a few minutes before continuing to eat again. He ate it all and nodded yes that it was better than his hospital food. Like that was a stupid question! HAHA!

After lunch we walked him up to the second floor of his building to his computer therapy, but his therapist wasn’t there. So he missed all of his therapies today because of his appointment and one of his therapist being sick. They will make them all up tomorrow.

In the late afternoon, they took out his catheter. His urine had cleared up and they no longer are concerned. They are thinking it was old blood possibly from being poked and prodded over the past months, his kidney stone, or an old blood clot. Regardless, they are no longer going to do a kidney ultrasound and cancelled his appointment with the urilogist.

His doctor also mentioned that they might take out his stomach tube tomorrow. They are thinking his getting sick each day could be caused by the stomach tube or a nerve/vein that is like a crossed wire in the brain that just hasn’t healed yet. At this time, they are not seeing anything that is causing a major concern. They are still not sure why he is getting sick each day though.

Andrew seemed in better spirits today. With each passing day, he seems more like himself. He has a long way to go and rarely talks, but is definitely not a vegetable and is on his way to recovery.

It was hard leaving my parents and Andrew. We enjoyed are stay and being with them, but are ready to go home. Hopefully our roller coaster will continue up now for awhile. Much love for all of the support and prayers sent our way for 2009!
