We’ve had some more good news today. They are planning on moving Andrew to the Critical Unit sometime today. He’s moving up in the world of hospital floors and rooms. So far, his body has been able to take care of the draining and flowing of the spinal fluid. Which is great news too! Andrew’s head has sunken down on the left side because of his skull missing, which is a good thing. It means that the swelling from before has gone down and the doctors are still planning on putting his skull piece back in after his aneurysm surgery.

The physical therapist is now working with Andrew for a 1/2 hour each day. She told my parents to have them help by moving his limbs around and helping him work them about 3 times a day. They are putting him in a chair each day to help with the moving of his body. He does have to wear a helmet, since part of his skull is still missing. My dad says he doesn’t like it very much. My dad thinks he can tell by the look in his face.

They also told my parents that they don’t want him overly stimulated. So my parents are trying to leave him alone a little bit more when he seems tired. They are supposed to talk to him softly and not use the radio or TV for awhile. The therapist wants him to be exposed to stimulation a little bit at a time and build up each day.

This is the best news we’ve heard in awhile! Even though he still has blood clots and an aneursym at this point, the doctors are amazed at how fast he is recovering. With that bit of news, my parents went out to lunch with my Uncle Frank to celebrate!
My parents just now received a laptop to borrow while they are out there. They are aware of this website and will be checking it out later today. Please continue to send your prayers and comments. It will help them feel connected to us all who are not there with them. Power of prayer always!
