It was another good day for Andrew. He is definitely improving each day and I think gathering more energy and motivation from being around loved ones. Teddy and Dad got to the rehabilitation center this morning during Andrew’s physical therapy. They walked in to find Andrew practicing walking with his physical therapist. Andrew had his left side near the wall. He was holding onto the railing and moving his left leg while his therapist helped move his right. Andrew worked really hard today. My Dad and Teddy said that he walked a lot (with a lot of support from his therapist). The therapist saw Andrew move his right foot on his own once, so he pushed Andrew hard and told him he needed to do it again. Andrew ended up taking about 10 steps using both of his feet. The therapist had to support him by holding onto him of course. Andrew’s left arm was around the therapist neck as they slowly took the steps down the hallway. This was big news today! He is not fully walking on his own, but we are seeing that he can move his right leg a little more. It still takes a lot of effort for him.

Jen, Mom, and I got to observe part of his speech therapy. We watched him match objects, pictures to objects, and practice tracing and writing his name. Andrew ate a whole thing of applesauce today. We even heard him make a few sounds today. He was trying to say something to the therapist. Even though she couldn’t understand him – because he was have trouble getting it out – she did say that his sounds were clear and not gurgly.

Andrew had a few smiles today. He enjoyed seeing Teddy and his roommates again. He even laughed at Mom when she tried to give him a fist pound. Andrew is making gains each day. We are very proud of his accomplishments thus far and can’t believe how fast he is moving through his recovery. He still has a long way to go, but is fighting harder!
