Andrew has moved back to the Critical Unit. His new room number is 8013, which is pretty interesting since his favorite number is 13. Another sign? I am thinking so. Anyways, not much new. My parents said he is doing well and they don’t expect him to be in the Critical Unit very long. They will eventually move him on to some type of rehab community.
All of the doctors and nurses from ICU came by Andrew’s room to say goodbye to him. They called him a very special young man. Everyone is impressed by his speedy recovery and wanted to wish him luck as he continued on in his journey of rehabilitation.
My parents decorated his new room with pictures, Superman gear, Birthday cards, etc. Please read or scan the guestbook as you visit the website, my parents are responding and sending messages as well.
My Dad said when Andrew’s friend, Al, was talking to him about Smallville, he thought he saw Andrew do a half smile. Wouldn’t surprise me! Smallville is his favorite TV show.
Someone asked if Andrew was talking yet. No, he cannot talk yet. The doctors/therapist has not showed him how to with his trachea tube. Andrew is breathing completely on his own and just using the oxygen from the respirator. He has no way to really communicate as of right now, but is still moving his body in purposeful ways to him. Hopefully we will start to see even more progress as he gets his physical and occupational therapy each day.
