Not a great day for Andrew. He is continuing to get sick, especially in the morning. The doctors did an EEG today and found some troublesome areas in his brain that might be causing his seizures. Originally after the aneurysm ruptured, he had a stroke which led to seizures. The doctors at Cedars Sinai gave him seizure medicine, but eventually weaned him off of it when he wasn’t showing or having signs of them. He has not had any seizure medicine since being at Rancho. The doctors decided to give him some seizure medicine and see if that helps his troublesome areas. They are planning on giving him another EEG later tomorrow or Wednesday to see if the medicine has helped the troubled areas.
Andrew got sick a lot this morning and afternoon. He wasn’t keeping anything down. The doctors think it could have to do with the amount of mineral oil they are giving him to help with his digestive track. Lately, they have been giving him two large doses of mineral oil a day. They are going to reduce the amount and try giving it to him only once a day to see if the mineral oil is what is making him get sick.
The GI and the Ear, Nose, and Throat doctors are still planning on visiting Andrew for testing sometime this week. His blood test did show up normal along with his most recent CT scan. So that is good news!
Mom and Dad are really having a rough day. It’s reminding them of when he first started coming around out of his coma. We still have a lot to be thankful for and have to remember the many strides Andrew has made from the very beginning.
Maybe this is God’s sign to help the doctors dig deeper in finding out what is wrong with Andrew and why he keeps getting sick. The doctors and nurses in the rehab part of the facility didn’t seem to concerned and maybe this was the sign to get them busy looking.
Andrew has been sleeping most of the day, exhausted from getting sick and all of the tests. The doctors think Andrew could be out of CU in the next couple of days. Let’s pray for him to be released back into the rehabilitation part of the center, but most importantly that the doctors find out what is causing Andrew to keep getting sick each day!
Thanks for all of your prayers and support! Hopefully I can give you more information before we fly out Wednesday to see Mom, Dad, and Andrew.
Thanks to Aunt Chris I have more photos to share of Andrew’s growth since being in the rehabilitation center at Rancho. Please check them out in the photo section at www.caringbridge.org/visit/andrewdavis.
