Happy New Year!

Andrew has had a good couple of days.  Yesterday he had his stomach tube taken out.  It was a painful process my Mom said and he has complained that his stomach has hurt, probably through a lot of asking and him nodding.  He had a great day with his therapies.  He even told Alana, his speech therapist, that he wanted to do 20 reps of sitting up and standing up when asked.  He said 20 on his own with just her asking.  Mom said she could tell a difference when she put him back in his bed that … Continue Reading

Andrew had a good day today. They took him this morning to the surgical unit for testing with the GI. My parents waited with him in the waiting room (him in his bed) for an hour and a half. The doctors looked at his stomach and intestinal region with a scope. They didn’t find anything and said everything looked normal. Good news!

Because of Andrew’s GI appointment he missed lunch in his room, so Jen and I brought the family BK and Subway for a picnic in the courtyard. Andrew ate a whopper (cut in … Continue Reading

It’s been another rough day here in CA.  Andrew hasn’t been feeling very well lately.  He’s been sleeping a lot and not wanting to eat much.  Andrew ate part of his breakfast and part of his lunch with my parents encouragement.  He really didn’t want to eat anything.  He’s made it three days without getting sick and then today threw up his lunch.

Most of the day he slept.  He didn’t have any of his therapies today since it was Sunday and wasn’t interested in watching TV either.

Tonight the nurses found blood in his urine, which now adds another concern.  They … Continue Reading

Merry Christmas!

Andrew had a great day yesterday!  He kept busy with all of his therapies except computer therapy.  Fatima his speech therapist said she re-evaluated him to see if he had regressed from his time in ICU, but she said he is right where he left off.  We had a nice walk out in the courtyard and ate McDonald’s for lunch (the girls) while he had a milkshake.

While Mom and Jen were with him for dinner, Dad, Mya, and I stayed at the apartment and got the cooking and wrapping done.  We had a home-cooked meal for Christmas … Continue Reading

Jen, Mya, and I made it to CA with no problems!  We had a fully packed day and are all exhausted.  It’s great seeing Mom, Dad, and Andrew again. Their apartment is very cute and all decorated for Christmas.  Tonight they opened about four boxes from family and friends.  Let me tell you…we have cookies galore!  We are so excited to be here to enjoy them!  Thanks to all of our friends and family who continue to send these wonderful gifts to my parents and Andrew.  They are not necessary, but we are all very grateful and appreciative of  everything … Continue Reading
